By using this site or the PorchLM model, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use them.

This is a small, free, non-commercial hobby project. There is no company behind it, no account to create, and no charge for anything.

What PorchLM is

PorchLM is an experimental language model of roughly 8 million parameters, published as a learning project. It is not a product, a service, or a professional tool.

It runs locally — on the machine serving this site, or on your own machine if you download it.

What PorchLM is not

Its output is frequently wrong. A model this small has almost no world knowledge. It has no internet access, no awareness of current events, no reliable sense of dates, and no memory between conversations. It will sometimes produce fluent, confident text that is entirely false.

Do not rely on anything it says. In particular, do not use it for:

• Medical, health, or mental-health guidance
• Legal, financial, tax, or investment advice
• Emergencies or anything safety-critical
• Any decision that actually matters

If you need help with something serious, talk to a qualified human. If you are in crisis, contact your local emergency services.

Acceptable use

Don't use this site or the model to do harm. Specifically, you may not use it to create, request, or distribute:

• Any sexual content involving minors. This is an absolute limit, it applies to fictional and generated material as well as real, and it is not negotiable. Suspected child sexual abuse material will be reported to the appropriate authorities.
• Content that sexualises, endangers, exploits, or grooms anyone under 18
• Threats, harassment, stalking, or targeted abuse of any person
• Instructions for weapons, explosives, or attacks on people or infrastructure
• Malware, intrusion tooling, or attempts to compromise this server or any other system
• Impersonation, fraud, scams, or deceptive content presented as real
• Material that is illegal where you are, or where this server is

You are responsible for what you type and for what you do with anything the model produces.

Age

This site is not directed at children. You must be at least 13 years old to use it, and if you are under 18 you should have a parent or guardian's permission. The model has no content filtering of any kind and its output is unpredictable — it is not a safe environment for a child to use unsupervised.

Your conversations

Chats are stored in your own browser, not on the server. They stay on your device until you delete them or clear your browser data.

The text you send is processed in memory on the server to generate a reply, and is not written to disk or kept after the reply finishes. There are no accounts, no tracking, no analytics, and nothing is sent to any third party.

Standard web server logs may record request metadata such as IP address and timestamp, as any web server does.

This site may be reachable by other people on the same network. It has no login. Don't type anything into it that you would mind someone else seeing, and don't enter passwords, financial details, or other sensitive personal information.

No warranty

This site and the model are provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

There is no guarantee that the site will be available, that it will work correctly, or that its output will be accurate or suitable for anything.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the author of PorchLM is not liable for any claim, damage, loss, or other liability — whether direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or otherwise — arising from the use of this site, the model, or its output, or from any inability to use them.

You use this project at your own risk.

The model itself

PorchLM is released under the MIT License. You are free to download, run, modify, and redistribute it, including commercially, subject to that licence.

The MIT License also disclaims warranty and liability. If you redistribute the model or build on it, that is your responsibility, and you should keep the limitations above in mind when describing it to others.

The model was trained on text selected by the author. If you believe it was trained on material it shouldn't have been, please get in touch and it will be looked into.

Availability

This is a personal server. It may go offline, lose data, change, or be shut down at any time without notice. Nothing here is guaranteed to keep working.

Changes

These terms may change. The revision date at the top of this page will be updated when they do, and continuing to use the site means accepting the current version.
